WhichInvestmentTrust.com is here to inform, educate and perhaps entertain you on the subject of Investment Trusts & related issues around investing.
We work very hard to produce thorough and in depth research and analysis of investment trusts.
Investment Trusts have long got little publicity in the investment press and with Independent Financial Advisers. This in large part is due to the fact that Investment Trusts are unable to pay Financial Advisers commission and we as consumers have been unwilling to alternately reward Financial Advisers by paying fees.
This despite the often superior performance of Investment Trusts over their commission paying Unit Trust/OEIC alternatives and their usual lower charging structure (more about that in What is an Investment Trust? section of this site).
Nonetheless Investment Trusts have grown to become a £95 billion industry. It’s well established too with many trusts dating back to the Victorian era. Some built America, paid for railroads etc using the wealth of rich Scottish merchants in cities like Dundee, Glasgow & Edinburgh. Other Victorian & Edwardian trusts originated in the City of London, some to look after the great wealth of prosperous families.
But it’s all about the performance……..
…….yip, I agree. And this site will make it its job to find and research the best performing Investment Trusts for your money.
We pay little attention to short term market noise but focus instead on opportunities presented by long-term structural change such as changes in demographics.
Whilst much of the UK media might be focussed on our ‘immigration problem’ we might focus instead on the economic advantage immigration might bestow on the UK over coming years and decades. This is not to make a moral or political judgement on the merits or otherwise of immigration, but it is an attempt to deal with things are they are, and not as one group or another might wish them to be.
Another example of structural change is the increasing wealth, better education, investment in physical infrastructure and improving governance in several countries in the continent of Africa. As this story unfolds we will endeavour to bring it to our readers and identify ways in which they might profitably invest.
So what do you think? I’d love your feedback.

A bit about me…..
I work in the Financial Services industry & I have long been a believer in the Investment Trust cause. I don’t believe being an investor is a skill or a trade like being a Carpenter or a Lawyer or an Accountant. I believe investing is something you’ve always got to work hard at and learn new things.
